Weekday Whimsy 03
star shaped fruit & a shower lamp
I think that spring is the most whimsical time of the year. The pink petals from trees gathering on sidewalks like confetti, the chipmunks and squirrels playing tag through green grass, rainbows of flowers with buzzing bees. Pure magic.
Here are some of my ideas to make your week even more whimsical. Small moments of intention to bring a little extra fun and playfulness into your life. I’m a strong believer that all adults need a little more whimsy in our weekdays!
Welcome to Weekday Whimsy! Yay!
(p.s. I’ll put some links to products I own, which will bring you to my Amazon storefront- I earn from qualifying purchases. I will always link to things I genuinely use, love, & recommend!)
Shower Mood Lighting
I think that my shower lamp is one of my favorite purchases ever. It makes my shower feel so much more special, more feminine, more sacred. It feels more like an intentional act of self care and self love rather than just another personal care chore. It's also wonderful for when I’m showering earlier in the morning or later at night and the last thing I want is the overly bright and overly white overhead bathroom lighting. My shower lamp is linked here if you’d like to match me. You could also light candles or use a non-waterproof lamp on the counter outside of your shower or something like that!
Listen to music as your main activity
Sometimes I find myself, more often than not, putting on music in the background, while I read or do the dishes or go for a run. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong about that, of course, but I think it’s wonderful to listen to music as your main activity. Intentionally choosing a specific album, listening to it the whole way through if you have the time. Focusing on the music, enjoying it, letting it wash over you. It’s a practice of presence and also, quite simply, a really lovely way to spend your time.
Colorful nails
Currently I have bright pink nails, a shade I would name strawberry donut frosting. My last set of nails were a vibrant green, the exact hue of inchworms. I have realized that colorful nails are such a simple and effective mood boost. An easy way to add a bit of whimsical fun to your everyday. My next idea is to get colorful polka dotted nails, maybe a sky blue with pastel pink dots.
Shaped snacks
My mom hosted a brunch recently and used mini cookie cutters to make all the watermelon into adorable flower shapes. It was so wonderfully whimsical that I now feel inspired to do the same. I want to make star shaped butter to top my weekend pancakes, heart shaped cheddar cheese pieces to pair with grapes, and butterfly shaped apple slices on my snack plate. Whimsy-maxxing my meals, if you will. How fun!
Whimsy Glimmers List
More on glimmers here: Glimmers Make My Life Feel Infinitely Better. Save the template in your camera roll and edit it directly (click the markup icon just add text boxes), or print it if you desire.
Some glimmers to look out for this week:
Look out for a particular color that makes you feel something. Calm, happy, inspired?
Notice any conversations, with either loved ones or strangers, that make you feel good
Listen for a sound that stands out to you. Maybe a lawnmower that feels nostalgic of your childhood, or the ding of your oven that makes you feel excited to taste your freshly baked cookies, or the sound of your mom picking up the phone to say hello
If you use & enjoy any of my ideas, please share in the comments! I’d really love to hear about it!
Are there any ways that YOU add whimsy to your weekday?
That’s all for now!
Sending so much love and joy,
Rach

My Guide to a Sweet May
May! A sweet, whimsical month. A month meant to make you feel alive yet serene, to lay in the sun and walk in the grass and feel perfectly content about it all. My plans include opening the windows as far as my window panes will let me, spinning my Etta James record on repeat, and writing poems with my felt tip pens. May feels feminine to me, in the most wondrous and gratifying way. Lace and lipgloss, flowy dresses and eyeshadow with glitter. Smiling at strangers at farmers markets and skipping home with peonies and beeswax candlesticks. Enjoying my morning mug of tea on the balcony with the company of songbirds and sunshine. I hope this month brings effortless joy and a sense of contented presence, a bliss in being.
Side Quests & Hobbies for May
I have been looking forward to May. A month that feels blissful, inspiring, sweet. A lovely month meant for things like pretty dresses and flowers in vases, poems read off sun soaked pages and grass stains on knees. I want to feel alive and alight, to experience life with gratitude in my heart.
What's on My Self Care Checklist Right Now
My self care checklist is a list that I keep in the notes app on my phone. It’s split into three categories- mind, body, and soul. Under each category is a list of about 8-10 things I can do to take care of myself for that aspect of my health and wellness. I check each item off as I complete them during the week, and redo it again at the start of the ne…
