2 Ultra-Specific Ways to Spend A Solo Day
I have a few favorite ways to spend a day by myself. Here are 2 detailed itineraries to enjoy a solo day- one for staying in & one for exploring.
I love having a day to myself- time to do whatever I want, with whatever timeframe works for me, and having the vibes be however I want. I used to be nervous to explore by myself- I’d get social anxiety or worry that people are judging me. But I absolutely love to have a solo date day to myself now. I can spend as long as I want doing things I like to do without worrying about someone else getting bored. I can sit and look at a tree for 5 minutes if I want to, keep all my thrift finds to myself, walk around listening to old Taylor Swift, enjoy my own inner dialogue.
I love self care days at home too- cozy days to myself where I can focus completely on myself. Solo days recharge me, help me reconnect with myself. I can dance around to the Cheetah Girls soundtrack with nobody to watch me, cry while journaling if I need to, karaoke to Celine Dion in my living room.
Here are some quotes/ mottos that I highly support.
Be in good company when you’re by yourself.

Here are 2 itineraries to inspire you during a solo day. One for when you want to explore, and one for when you feel like chilling out.
Option 1 : Out & About
This option is for when you want to explore around, get out and about. See some friendly faces, feel inspired, enjoy nature- that sort of thing. Here’s some visual inspiration:

Pack your bag for the day! Here are some possible ideas:
A book, journal & pens, coloring book & colors
Sunglasses
Digital or film camera, if you’re into that
Headphones of some kind & a playlist or podcast you enjoy
Water bottle
Pick out an outfit you love, with comfy shoes for walking
Browse your local library to pick out a book! Unless of course you’re currently reading a book that you’d like to continue.
If there’s one available, go to a local farmer’s market! If not, go to a local grocery store or supermarket and acquire fruit! Maybe a plum or a pear or an apple or a peach.
Visit a local coffee or tea spot! Get yourself your favorite beverage or try something new! Maybe a flavored latte or a matcha, maybe a dirty chai. If you’re in the mood, maybe a croissant or baked good of your choosing
Find a park or nice spot outside
Get settled in. Enjoy your coffee and fruit while appreciating the nature around you. Look at the views, at the details. Listen to the birds. Maybe read your book, or journal, or color. Maybe take some pictures. Maybe lay down and sun bathe or watch the clouds. Whatever your heart desires!
Go to a thrift, antique, or vintage store
Walk around to just browse, or try to find your dream thrift finds. Take your time, really explore all the cool stuff you see.
Find a cute neighborhood
Go for a walk! Listen to a playlist or podcast you love. Enjoy looking at the houses and yards, say hi and smile at passerby and dogs. Maybe think which house on the street you’d want to live in, or what features you’d want for your dream house.
Get takeout
From a favorite spot, or someplace new! Maybe you want to get a nice little sandwich or sushi, maybe noodles! Obviously whatever your heart desires.
Find a nice little table somewhere around town
Maybe there’s a local park, or a bench on your main street. Maybe there’s a pond or river or someplace that might have a picnic table. Maybe play some music, eat and enjoy the nature, or eat while reading.
Do something fun!
Be a tourist in your own town. Maybe go to a pottery painting place, browse Pinterest for inspiration, and paint a cute little mug for yourself. Maybe go to the movies, get yourself some popcorn that you don’t have to share with anyone. Maybe explore your town, go shopping. Look up what to do in your town, or a nearby town, and pick something you haven’t done before, if you want!
Write a glimmers/ gratitude list
Think about what brought you joy during your explorations, write down a little list!
Option 2 : Cozy self care night in
The goal is to feel luxurious, to feel pampered. To enjoy some time to yourself and romanticize each moment. Here’s some visual inspiration:

Make your space as cozy and vibey as possible. Tidy up a bit, light some candles, put on some music or a a relaxing ambience video on Youtube (coffeeshop ambience video linked here).
Get on your favorite lounge clothes. Maybe a sweatshirt and sweatpants, or an oversized tee and comfy shorts
Make a face or hair mask.
Combine 1-2 tablespoons of plain yogurt with 1-2 teaspoons of honey, mix well, and apply to a clean face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Combine about 1/4 cup each of honey and coconut oil (melted or not). Mix well and apply to hair, focusing on the ends and working your way up. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then rinse and shampoo as usual.
Make an easy comfort meal. Boxed mac and cheese is forever my go-to!
Enjoy your dinner while reading, or watching a video- maybe a travel vlog or compilation of baby animals on Youtube. Or use it as a time to practice screenless mindfulness and have yourself a nice solo dinner date
Take an everything shower. Light a candle or bring a small lamp into the bathroom. Play some classical music to feel fancy, or your ultimate shower singing playlist
Put on your comfiest cutest pj’s
Make a cup of tea and maybe get a little snack
Write a gratitude list or journal a bit. Imagine yourself as the main character in a rom com while journaling in your pj’s with your mug of tea. Here are some prompt ideas:
What made you smile today?
Write about a time you felt proud of yourself.
What’s a small detail you noticed today that brought you joy?
Write a letter to yourself in 5 years.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Find a classic or nostalgic movie, one you love but maybe haven’t seen in awhile. Here are some ideas:
Mamma Mia - Netflix
H20 - Netflix
Eat Pray Love - Netflix
The Proposal - Hulu
10 Things I Hate About You - Hulu
The Sandlot - Hulu
Write a little movie review!
Get as cozy as possible in your bed. Appreciate how comfy you feel in bed, maybe listen to some relaxing lofi.
Read in bed, or color
Some relaxing activity to help you get super sleepy.
Do some breathwork, meditate. List some things you enjoyed about the day, or what you’re grateful for.
Equal breathing (inhale and exhale for the same amount of time)
Hum breath (big inhale & hum while exhaling)
4-7-8 (inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8 seconds)
I hope this helped you get some inspiration for your next solo day! And as always, if you have ideas- please share!
Love,
Rachel

Loved this! I too love spending time alone, but it depends on the day and my mood whether that be alone at home or alone in public.
